MB’s Experience as an Editor

Warm greetings, my name is Mary Beth Wilson. I am a dedicated researcher and editor who believes that good writing is essential to clearly communicating ideas, and ensuring that they are taken seriously.

I have experience as a primary researcher, a copy-editor, a proofreader, and as an informal advisor as a freelancer and an employee. I enjoy helping strengthen articles, reports, dissertations, and books to ensure that they communicate in a manner that can be clearly understood by the target audience(s).

I have provided editing services for academic books (monographs and edited volumes), doctoral (PhD) dissertations, and articles published in peer-reviewed journals in the fields of: Anthropology, Archaeology, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Human Geography, Physical Geography, Political Science, and Security Studies. Additionally, I have edited project proposals, project and program reports, guidelines, and more in both an academic setting and in International Development circles, both for internal use and publication.

I have edited:

  • Eight doctoral (PhD) dissertations
  • More than ten books (monographs and edited volumes)
  • Over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles
  • An international studies journal
  • Numerous international development reports, briefings, presentations, project proposals, Monitoring & Evaluation plans, and more

I am comfortable editing in both American and British English and have worked with different style guides, such as AMA and the Chicago Manual Style. I have also helped clients to align their work with publisher provided formatting guidelines.
